What’s Your Go-To Makeup Look for Everyday?
Understanding what you love about your everyday makeup is a great place to start when you’re planning your wedding look. This applies even if your ‘everyday makeup’ involves going makeup free. This tells me you’ll probably prefer something natural that feels light on your skin. Equally, knowing that you tend to play up your eyes or favour a bold lip will help us choose the perfect look for your wedding day.
With this in mind, if you have a go-to lip product you love, bring it along to your trial. If we settle on something you don’t already have in your makeup bag, don’t forget to buy your own for top-ups after your wedding breakfast.
How Would You Describe Your Overall Wedding Vibe?
Often, the overall look and feel of your wedding will influence the type of makeup you want. For example, if you’re going for laidback luxury, you might want a soft glam look with glowing skin and a nude lip. If you’re planning a formal black-tie affair, a dramatic smoky eye or red lipstick might be more appropriate.
Do You Prefer a Natural Glow or Matte Skin?
When you’re thinking about the type of finish you’d like for your skin, it’s important to consider your skin type. If you have oily skin, a dewy look will require powder top-ups throughout the day. I include powder puffs in my bridal giftpack for this very purpose, but it’s still something to bear in mind. Equally, if you have dry skin, a matte look might not be the best option for you. What’s Your Inspiration?
Pinterest can be helpful if you’re looking for ideas. I’d also recommend scrolling through your chosen makeup artist’s gallery or Instagram feed.
There’s so much inspiration online, it’s easy to become overwhelmed, so it’s a good idea to refine your search and be specific. As a starting point, look for models or real brides with similar colouring and eye-shape to you. These things can really impact the end result. For example, winged eyeliner doesn’t look the same on everyone!
When you’re searching for inspiration, it’s also important to be mindful of filters and AI images. Unfortunately, these things are becoming more and more prevalent online, and they can create some really unrealistic expectations.
