Ā Frequently Asked Questions

Once your booking has been confirmed, you’ll receive my special bridal guide containing everything you need to know, but here are a few questions you might want answered right away…

How do I book?

Send me an email with the date of your wedding and I’ll get back to you ASAP regarding my availability. Your chosen date will be held for 7 days while I await confirmation from you. You’ll need to return a booking form and I also require a Ā£50 deposit which will be deducted from your final balance.

Do I need a trial?

A trial is essential for the bride and should ideally take place 6-8 weeks before the wedding. It’s an opportunity to discuss the finer details of your wedding day, the overall look you’re hoping to achieve and any accessories I need to incorporate. Once I understand your personal likes and dislikes, we can work together to come up with the perfect look for your wedding day.

Trials take place at House of Hair in Bristol city centre. Appointments are usually available during weekdays and evenings.

Can I book a trial before I pay a deposit?

Absolutely. I understand it’s a big deal booking your wedding hair and makeup, so you’ll want to make sure I’m right for you. However, I cannot hold any wedding dates without a deposit, so it’s best to book your trial asap. It may be necessary to have an additional trial, 6-8 weeks before your wedding, depending how far in advance you have booked.

Can you travel to our wedding venue?

Of course! Most of my brides either get ready at home or at their chosen wedding venue, so I’m more than happy to come to you. I work throughout the South West, covering Bristol, Bath, The Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire. Travel to any location further than 10 miles outside of SN3 is charged at 45p per mile.

How far will you travel?

Bearing in mind the costs outlined above, as far as you need me to! Just send me an email with your requirements.

My hair is fine, will I need extensions?

It really depends on the style you’re after. Your trial is the ideal time to discuss these options and find a solution you’re completely happy with. I have some sample extensions we can test at the salon, but you’ll need to provide your own on the day itself. Alternatively, I can source your extensions and add the cost to your bill.

What will happen on the day itself?

I’ll arrive roughly 10 minutes before my scheduled start time and work hard to make your morning as fun and relaxing as possible.

To ensure your hair and makeup looks fresh when you walk down the aisle, I normally work on the bridal party first. I aim to have everyone ready at least 30 minutes before it’s time to depart. This gives you plenty of time to get into your dress and make any final adjustments. If you’re planning to have photos taken before you leave, I’ll have you ready an hour before. This will all be discussed and confirmed in advance during your trial.

Amelia is truly brilliant at hair design. I go to lots of events in my line of work and she is always my first point of call. She’s been doing my hair for so long, we didn’t even need a practice session for the wedding, I was happy to let her look at my dress and the hair accessories I had chosen and just get on with it! I trusted her to do a great job and she really did.

Booking Amelia meant I had one less thing to worry about which helped so much when facing the seemingly impossible task of organising two weddings for a combined total of 200 people!’ – Holly Savage
